⛏️ Who’s going to be YouTube’s next target?
If you aren’t aware, YouTube has recently launched a new initiative called ‘YouTube Courses’ that aims to make it easier for creators to offer educational content on the platform.
The world is going bonkers and everyone is saying it will totally revolutionise the way people learn. They believe it will completely kill all the big EdTech platforms that have been around for decades.
This is what we think:
YouTube is a giant in the online video space with billions of users and massive reach. With YouTube Courses, the platform has the potential to tap into the lucrative e-learning market, which is currently dominated by players like Coursera and Udemy. YouTube will allow creators to monetize their educational content, providing a new revenue stream for creators who have a passion for teaching.
EdTech platforms that are dominating, have a strong track record of providing high-quality educational content. They often have more resources and infrastructure in place to support e-learning, such as user-friendly course management systems and customer support teams. Not only this, many of them offer highly comprehensive learning experiences. This includes a structured curriculum, interactive elements, and opportunities for personalised feedback and support. This can be particularly appealing for students who are looking for an immersive and interactive learning experience.
Education has been evolving and we believe community-based learning is the new method of learning. It involves students learning from and with their peers, which has had a significant impact on the way online learning takes place. Increased collaboration and engagement, personalised learning, increased accessibility, greater support and accountability are some of the benefits of community-based learning. We are not sure if YouTube Courses will be able to achieve a holistic learning experience but they could definitely make an impact.
It's possible that both the EdTech giants and YouTube’s new venture will coexist. They could possibly complement each other well - Giants providing a more structured method versus YouTube providing a slightly more casual and quick-to-consume approach. Either way, learning wins!
Also, who wouldn’t be interested in taking a course by Mr.Beast if he plans to launch one? We can tell you that we’re buying it for sure, what about you? 👀

"In today’s idea machines, an ideology serves as the coordination mechanism for ideas.. making it easier for both sides to find each other. It attracts operators who resonate with its ethos and have ideas for how to bring it into fruition."
