✨ Tips to standout as a PM candidate
Today, we're unpacking - tips on how to standout as a PM candidate, cracking PM interviews, and getting hired at CRED!
The PM job market in India appears to be gradually gaining momentum, with a noticeable increase in the number of PM openings. However, the competition for these roles remains intense. So, how do you stand out from the crowd?
We will share some tips from our side to help you get noticed.
Product Portfolio
One of the most effective yet demanding strategies to distinguish yourself in the competitive PM landscape is to develop a robust product portfolio. This portfolio should seamlessly blend your professional profile with a showcase of your projects, which could range from comprehensive product case studies to insightful product teardowns, and even detailed blogs on product improvements.
Build a Product
Crafting your own product is a remarkable way to stand out in the competitive PM landscape. The market is replete with a variety of no-code tools, empowering you to bring your innovative side projects to life. Naturally, there's a learning curve associated with mastering these no-code platforms, but the endeavour is well worth it when your goal is to make a distinctive mark in the eyes of the recruiter. 3. Write more & share
As a product manager, possessing strong analytical thinking and clear articulation skills is crucial. Writing serves as an excellent medium to showcase these abilities. We highly recommend sharing your insights and experiences; it could be through a thoughtfully written blog post or an article about a topic in which you have expertise. Consider publishing your content on platforms like Medium and then sharing it on LinkedIn. This not only demonstrates your knowledge and communication skills but also increases your visibility among recruiters, especially if you are connected with them on LinkedIn. Thoughtful, well-articulated content can significantly enhance your professional profile, subtly highlighting your suitability for product management roles.
4. Craft a cold mail
If you're aiming to work with Series A or early-stage startups, a well-crafted cold email can be highly effective. Conduct in-depth research on the company, its founders, and the specific challenges they are addressing. Dive into their press releases, company blogs, and podcasts they've featured in to gain a comprehensive understanding of their mission and values. Use this information to compose a compelling email, clearly articulating how your skills and experience align with their needs and goals
